Steep Point
Western Australia's Premier Fishing Platform
False Entrance is a great camping and fishing location.
The camping area just before the rock platform  can probably only accommodate 3 to 4 camps and the rock platform itself is a lot "craggier" than at Steep Point.
Good footwear is a must. If you wear thongs/sandles, keep a good supply of
band-aids handy, the rocks at False Entrance are merciless on exposed toes and heels.
There are plenty of great camping locations all along the beachfront.
These spots are tucked in behind the dune systems and offer great windbreaks.
Fishing here can be as good as Steep Point but the gaffing of the catch can be a lot harder.
Many a fine catch has been lost to the big swells racing around the base of the cliff face.
You need to "time" the gaffing of your catch to near perfection. Leaving your hooked catch about ten or so metre's out from the gaffing location, wait for the swells to come through, usually in sets of three, then bring in your catch to the base of the cliff and send down the cliff-gaff.
If you miss the first time, let the catch out again and wait for the swells once more.
Don't forget though, the Sharks can be waiting in the shadows to steal whatever you may have. Its a real art to landing your catch here.
Practice makes perfect and you will hone your skills to perfection.
The lowest point of the cliffs at False Entrance are still higher than at the lowest ledge at Steep Point.
The beach at False Entrance is nothing short of excellent.
It is perfect Tailor water and hooking up on these beauties on light tackle is unbelievable.
Big mulloway and assorted species cruise the coast in the evenings.
The beach is only a 5 minute drive from the False Entrance Point.
False Entrance is on the same track as Steep Point.
You will get to a "T" Junction on the track which tells you that Steep Point is turn right and False Entrance, is left, It is only about 6 - 7 Klms from this "T" junction so, even if your intended location is Steep Point, do yourself a favour and take an hour or so to go and have a look.
Its a fantastic spot to visit and requires the same access permit and bookings as Steep Point and Shelter bay
  Pumping Swells at False Entrance
Look closely and you will see 2 fishermen in the far distance get hit by the huge swells. These 2 men were lucky not to have been swept off the rocks to their deaths. This highlights the need to be vigilant at all times. Watch what the ocean is doing before selecting your fishing location
